The Patrol Division investigates criminal and traffic incidents throughout Worcester County. Two K-9 units supplement the department and provide building search capabilities, coupled with narcotics searches and crowd control. A Community Policing Unit was initiated in 1995, and serves to supplement community efforts at reclaiming neighborhoods from the criminal element of our society. A Triad program was initiated in 1997 and actively participates in community services with the local law enforcement agencies and the AARP. Neighborhood Watch programs are underway in every corner of the county and serve to augment the patrol efforts. Deputies continue to maintain the highest arrest average in the county, more than doubling their closest competitors in that function. Likewise, the Worcester County Sheriff's Office maintains the highest case-closure rate in the county.
